Master’s offered since 1995, doctorate since 1997

Objectives

  • Train in scientific research.
  • Deepen theoretical and practical knowledge of energy engineering.
  • Open up to applications in innovative industrial sectors.

Career prospects

  • Higher education and research (training trainers through research).
  • Highly qualified scientific positions in the energy sector.
  • Promotion of renewable energies and energy efficiency.

Admission requirements

Holders of a master’s degree or an engineering degree in energy engineering, or of a degree requiring five years of higher education recognised as equivalent by ENIM’s doctoral and habilitation committee in energy engineering.

Complementary training (30 credits)

BlockContentCredits
F1 — Cross-disciplinary trainingScientific communication; languages (TOEIC / TOEFL); scientific writing with LaTeX; university teaching; doctoral seminars; organising a scientific eventAt least 8
F2 — Specialised training (compulsory)Renewable energies; turbulence; radiation in semi-transparent media; numerical methods; advanced fluid mechanics; advanced experimental techniques in fluid mechanics (6 courses of 15 hours, 2 credits each)12
F3 — Optional trainingTopics chosen with the thesis supervisor, for example: heat transfer with phase change, combustion, thermophysical characterisation, advanced thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, aerodynamics, multiphase flows, porous media (2-credit modules)10

A course taken previously may be recognised as equivalent, on request.

Research topics and host units

Heat and mass transfer, hydrodynamic instabilities, process thermodynamics, solar cooling, new and renewable energies, thermal performance of buildings.
